What Causes Tech Neck
One condition we treat in our office is tech neck, or text neck. Unfortunately the American Pediatric Society has noticed that our little ones are seeing four to six hours a day on a device, that being a phone, iPad, switch, something like that. We got to make sure that we’re limiting their device use to I’d say, maybe two 30 minute increments a day, if no more than that.
Why It’s Important to Monitor Screen Time
It’s way better than four to six hours because four to six hours can lead to a lot of issues such as sleep disorders, mood disorders, neck pain, headaches and migraine. What we’re seeing here quite a bit is patients 11 or 12 years old that are experiencing migraines. You know, we want to avoid the tech neck and being in that position. We want to make sure we get those shoulders up. And if they’re going to be on device we want the device out in front, limiting our time to a few minutes a day. And you know if at all possible not four to six hours like the American Pediatric research is showing.
