Guasha Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis Relief | Chiropractor for Plantar Fasciitis in Lubbock, TX
Hello, this is Dr. Greg Marin from 1-Spine Chiropractic. Today, I want to address a common issue we frequently see in our office—plantar fasciitis.
The Guasha Technique
Plantar fasciitis indicates inflammation in the tendon that runs from the heel to the balls of our feet and toes. It often affects those who stand or work on their feet all day, including avid runners, as well as individuals with a more sedentary lifestyle and extra stress on their feet due to excess weight. Contrary to the misconception that chiropractors solely focus on the neck or back, we regularly address foot conditions, with plantar fasciitis being the most prevalent. Today, I’ll demonstrate a technique called gua sha, an instrument-assisted method where we strip the tendon up and down to break up fibers. Micro tears in the fibers can turn into adhesions, causing discomfort in the foot’s arch and heel. Gua sha helps break these adhesions, allowing for proper healing. We’ll apply a little cream to the tool and gently work from the arch down to the toes, addressing any grittiness or tension. After the gua sha session, we incorporate stretching to further aid in healing. This instrument technique, which we’ve used in our office for about 10 years, proves effective in providing relief. Whether we need a gentle or firmer approach, addressing plantar fasciitis professionally can keep you active and, most importantly, free from debilitating foot pain.
If you suspect plantar fasciitis, give our office a call for relief. Thank you!
