Diagnosing a Disc Injury | Chiropractor for Disc Injury in Lubbock, TX

How’s it going, Dr. Greg Marin here at !-Spine Chiropractic, and our topic of the month is the spinal disc injury and related disc issues.

The Valsalva Test

So one of the tests is called Valsalva tests. What this does is it increases the intra abdominal force and pressure in your spine that might cause that disc to get irritated. So what we typically do is we get a thumb and blow. If we have any pain in the neck or that lower back what we notice is we’re going to typically have a bulging or herniated disc issue. Sometimes it might even radiate down the arm or down the leg, depending on the severity of it. That’s a positive test, definitely call your Chiropractor and get things checked out.

The Milgram Test

The second test is called our Milgram test. So during the Milgram test, we’re going to have the patient lay on their back. What we’re going to do is have them lift their legs up, maybe six inches off the floor. If we’re having back pain or hip pain we may have another positive sign for a disc issue. If you don’t have any pain great, but if we do have pain, give us a call now!
